What a skull crushing two words to wake up to! I actually had to shake the cobwebs out of my head and double check my calendar to make sure it wasn’t April Fools Day. But, nope! For the first time in over 30 years, Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein are getting together and playing this year’s incarnations of Riot Fest in both Denver and Chicago. I don’t know how Riot Fest pulled this one out of their ass but hot damn, they actually did it and now they’re hosting the biggest Ghouls Night Out of the year. As for praying for more dates, you can try God or The Devil Himself. Don’t think it really matters at this point. Thank you, Riot Fest!
We’ll start this morning off with the obvious. One of my all time favorite punk rock bands were made for days like today….
Finally back home and finding some routine after a very drunken two weeks in British Columbia, the greatest place on Earth. I’m very much looking forward to
going back immediately digging deep and finding some new tunes to share with the world and I’m going to start with Chicago’s The Orwells, whom I’m seeing on Friday night in support of California dirtbags FIDLAR. The Orwells releases their second EP of the year last month with self proclaimed “ripoffs” of Misfits and Black Lips songs as well as an opening track produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, which I’m really feeling. Check it out along with tour dates below. I can’t speak for The Orwells as I have yet to see them live but FIDLAR absolutely slays so get your tickets stat.
