Right now we’re balls deep in trying to find a new place to live and that has definitely taken precedence when it comes to social time but I did manage to get to a couple shows this weekend including a headlining set by Midwest punk rock legends Zero Boys along with hot shit New Yorkers Night Birds( who played as fast as anyone I’ve seen in years) and hometown heros Bad Doctors, whom I thought had the best set of the night with their sped up Devo worshipping. The show was at Voltage Lounge, which I had never been to before but after they worked out the kinks like unlocking the doors and actually letting people drink downstairs it was fine. They would’ve looked pretty silly if they had stuck to restricting drinking to just upstairs when 95% of the patrons were rocking at least a few white hairs somewhere. I mean, come on now, the headliners only full length album came out in 1982. They ain’t doin’ it for “the kids”. Turned out to be a really fun night though, kudos to the staff for smiling through it and using the common sense.
