R.I.P. – Jeff Hanneman

Sonisphere Festival 2010 - Poland - Slayer

A truly sad day, not only for the world of heavy metal but music in general as Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman died of liver failure this morning in a California hospital. He was 49. A founding member of one of the true pioneer bands in metal, Jeff and Slayer’s influence around the music globe is completely un-measurable. Myself, I’ve been a fan for over twenty years and still claim Slayer in my all time top five favorite bands when asked. For what they do, no one does it better. Rest in Peace, Brother. You earned it.

My favorite Slayer song. Taken from a 2006 show in Vancouver that I was lucky enough to be at. It was my sixth time seeing them and the first time they played this track. I lost my shit. Damn….
