Morning Hype! Goat

Tonight, bringing their freaky psychedelic afro-beat garage rock to sunny Philadelphia is Sweden’s weirdos Goat. Culled from an apparent collective that has been performing in the small village of  Korpilombolo in the north of Sweden for decades , the air of mystery surrounding Goat seems almost silly though never really polluted. Claiming their musicals influences to one interviewer as birdsongs and food, and another as Geezer Butler meeting the guy from Can, you can tell Goat enjoys a sense of humor behind the wild tribal masks they don on stage, hiding their identity to ‘protect the music as a whole”. Their first proper release is no joke though, nine songs that are smorgasborged together to deliver a rather tasty musical experience, one that is all over the map without any notion of actually being lost on it. Their first American tour started with a sold out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn last night and includes a stop at The Black Angels curated Austin Psych Fest before concluding at Shaky Knees Fest in Atlanta. I’ve been looking forward to tonight for a long time and judging by the amount of times it was brought up at Record Store Day on Saturday, so is the rest of Philadelphia.
