Arguably the greatest hard rock band in the world received The Kennedy Center Honors this weekend along with Buddy Guy, Dave Letterman, Dustin Hoffman and ballerina Natalia Makarova. Can’t say as I really know what that means, other than I get to post a Zeppelin track in Morning Hype! A bigger concern, undoubtedly, is which Zeppelin track to post. I have been a Zep fan since I first heard ‘Good Times Bad Times’ in an old Plan B skate video and realized there was more to the storied foursome than ‘Stairway To Heaven’. I’ve enjoyed drunken sing-a-longs to ‘Ramble On’, epic Sunrise Over the Pacific Ocean moments to ‘Bron-y-aur’ and everything in between. How does one pick a single Zeppelin song that can completely encompass their feelings for a band that has played such a huge part in the soundtrack of their lives? Well, how about just posting a personal favorite, a song that unbelievably was never deemed good enough to be included on a studio release. This song truly represents the massive scope of Zeppelin, for if it was nearly any other band, it would be their lead single, their finest moment, their Swan Song if you will. But for Led Zeppelin, just a B-side. Hence The Kennedy Center Honors.
